This is a panel of Italian block printed cotton, probably 19th century.
It is a fragment of a much larger panel, possibly a tree of life. Naive in style, with butterflies, birds, flowers and what looks like a fox. Beautiful subtle colours, pinks, blue and browns on a taupe ground.
There is a hand sewn seam 25 cms from one end. Hand sewn hem.
Less than good condition with small holes and worn areas. It has been gently laundered. Please email if you would like more photos of wear.
