This is a French soft silk rectangular shawl dating from 1835-40. Cream ground, end borders have chinoiserie style design of foliage, palmettes and pagoda shapes.

Condition generally good but there are several small holes and pale brown marks.

This item is from the late Dr Joan Coleman's shawl collection.
