This is a fine lace mat dating from the early 19th Century. Wonderfully fine and transparent with a 'rose window' design. It came from the collection of Margaret Simeon and was illustrated in her book 'A History of Lace' pp 101, plate 103a

Pale ivory colour, excellent condition.
