This is a delicate French wedding handkerchief with 'PL' monogram in one corner. It has a very finely embroidered whitework border with needle lace fillings, edged with handmade Valenciennes lace. 

This handkerchief dates from around 1860, the miniature scale embroidery is similar to the neat embroidered collars of the period.

Pale ivory colour. Excellent condition.
