This is a Brussels Duchesse and Point de Gaze lace collar dating from the early 20th Century.
Neck measures 46 cms. Depth at centre back 23 cms.
Mid cream colour, a few broken brides otherwise good condition.
This comes with it's original P. Steinmann & Co. box, along with a receipt. There is, in addition a magazine cutting, possibly from Country Life, with a photograph of this collar advertising 'Charming Yuletide Gifts in Lace'.
P. Steinmann & Co at 185/186 Piccadilly, London were an old established firm selling baby linen, lingerie and antique lace.
In 1917 the collar was sold for £8. 15, the equivalent today of around £700
Box is worn and repaired, the cutting is creased.
