This is a delicate hand made silk blonde lace pelerine, dating from around 1830. Probably made in Bayeux or Caen.
Diamond shape with a fold over collar and long lappets to the front. Large flower motifs and leaves to the border with a sprigged ground.
63 cms x 230 cms.
Blonde collars of this type are fairly rare - the silk lace is very delicate and doesn't survive well. This has a few small holes, not too visible, but apart from this good condition with crisp glossy finish. Possibly unused.
