This is a hand embroidered cotton pillow sham, dating from the late 19th / early 20th century, possibly Italian. Pale ivory in colour, it has a pink rough silk backing. Charming central cartouche, naive in style, of sweethearts by a temple.
Good condition. There are just a couple of tiny rust marks to the cotton, hardly noticeable. Embroidered net flounces to corners are a little discoloured and the pink silk backing has a few pin holes. The pink silk is attached loosely at several points, could easily be removed for laundering.
