These are a pair of F.Pinet black silk shoes dating from around 1870. They have ruffled black silk bow trim and are embroidered with silk ribbon and chenille flowers, a Pinet trademark. They are a small size. There is an area of wear to the back heel of one shoe where the silk has worn away but apart from this they are both in good condition.
There are a pair of boots of very similar style in the National Gallery of Victoria, Australia.
