This is an unused Honiton lace veil, still in original Miss Herbert box, wrapped in blue tissue.

Miss Herbert took over the lace business of Mrs Treadwin in 1890 and was awarded a Royal Warrant in 1891. In 1922 Princess Alexandra accepted a gift of wedding lace from the Exeter workshop.  I would say this veil dates from around 1900.

It measures 180cms x 192cms. It has a sprigged net ground with flower sprays to each corner.

Pale cream colour. There is a line of seamed net to one corner, made during manufacture ( see photo 9), not visible when worn, otherwise excellent condition.
