This is an unused Honiton lace collar with rose, leaf and butterfly motifs.
It was from the collection of a Miss Lamb of Sidmouth, lace maker and collector.
A small charming note came with it, written in biro on lined paper with a blurry photograph of lace maker, MaryAnn Ebdon. The letter, witten to Miss Lamb from an A Whittaker, tells that Mary Ebdon was the maker of the collar and was still making lace at the age of 86, without glasses.
Unusual to be able to link a piece of lace of this age with its maker.
Neck measures 79 cms. Depth at centre back 17.5 cms.
The collar is a pale ivory colour with scattered pale age marks across the whole.
