This is a beautiful Black silk Chantilly lace shawl or mantilla dating from around 1860-80.
It is a lozenge shape, designed to fold over when worn. Elegant design showing bunches of lilacs and garlands of flowers.
There are a couple of tiny holes, apart from this excellent condition.
