This is a late 19th century collar of Honiton lace, with a scattered design typical of Honiton, showing butterflies, birds, moths, bees, roses and ferns.

An old Honiton lacemaker once told me that Honiton was made to resemble the hedgerows of Devon, and this piece is a perfect example.

Mid cream colour with some browning to inner coller and a small area of back collar edge.

Neck measures 45cms. Length at back neck 22cms.
