This is a very finely embroidered 19th century whitework handkerchief with a hand made Valenciennes lace border. There is a crest to one corner with coronets and two 'wild men' either side of two heraldic shields. This crest is finely hand embroidered and appliqued on to the linen ground. Border is a garland of tiny flowers and leaves in raised satin stitch, also appliqued. The border has fine needle lace fillings.
It measures 36 cms square with a lace border measuring 4.5 cms.
Good condition, probably unused.
