This is a well worn and obviously well loved 18th century man's waistcoat from the Basque region of France. Dark cream cotton with wool floral embroidery. Embroidered buttons, three missing. Fair condition only but damage is picturesque and, I think, adds to the charm of the piece. There is a substantial hole and some insect damage to the left side front. A neat 'L' shaped repair and tear to back panel. Various dusty marks.
